Introduction

Reason for Establishment

Following Taiwan’s rapid economic development in recent years and the increase in national income, people have become increasingly conscious about improving their health and quality of life. Both the government and private organizations have allotted large budgets to promote the relationship between exercise and health. To cope with the government’s cross-century departmental adjustment plan and meet society’s real needs, NTUS established the Department of Exercise Health Science in 2003 and began to offer a master’s degree program in 2007. In 2013, the Professional Master’s Program in Exercise Health Science enrolled its first batch of students, enabling those already in the workforce to strengthen their expertise.

The Department will continue to recruit professional teachers from the exercise health science field, introduce more scientific laboratory equipment and apparatuses, enrich the library resources, and cooperate through international industry-academia alliances to become an academic unit for cultivating exercise instructors and athletic trainers for the people in Taiwan.
